Some times many new queens of the same species start up a common nest. In this way they can share resources and have more chance of survival. After the birth of the first workers confrontation between the queens may occur. Depending on the species they may: Kill each other with just one survivor, or one dominant queen may subdue the others, or they may all live peacefully together and share the power.
